Remo looms large; KC finds a job.

Remo is a sector in the NPR (North Pardus Rim), neutral territory "above" the Pardus Core sector and the Pardus Faction Contingents. TIRO, our fine alliance, has a presence in Remo... a "nook". A nook is a portion of space only accessible through narrow channels between impenetrable fields of energy. Our nook is walled off by military outposts and houses some money-making buildings, especially our illegal ventures, such as drug stations and slave camps.

Two days ago, Varamin sent a radio message on our alliance frequency that a starbase was destroyed in Remo, not too far from our nook. There have been hostilities in the area as two alliances local to the area have taken to blowing each other up lately over some disagreement I do not pretend to understand.

The destruction of this starbase presented an opportunity... locations in space suitable for starbase placement are few and far between, and no remaining places of this sort exist in any locale near TIRO holdings. So Varamin was understandably eager to get a TIRO pilot (with the knowledge and experience) to that location as soon as possible. I put myself on standby while the location was scouted by Taised. I was in Heze, at the starbase Fort YTWO, on my way back into the PEC to look for smuggling jobs for the Empire (wanting to take a break from hacking for a while). I made the short flight to the trading outpost that orbited Fort YTWO and found some drugs to buy. I consumed them, and time slowed way down.... I needed every moment, artifical or otherwise, for the upcoming mission.

At that most inopportune moment, problems with my life-support system forced me to shut down the majority of the other systems on the Event Horizon Green, including the radio. I was unavailable to TIRO in their time of need. I clicked my claws together in barely-suppressed rage.

When I had located and fixed the problem, Taised had claimed the location and began building the starbase, with Varamin hauling materials in his huge freighter. I had missed out!

However, TIRO still needed me. With Varamin absent from We Made It, there was no freighter pilot to move commodities between the facilities that orbited WMI and keep them stocked and producing. I stepped in, and after some mistakes, I am beginning to understand the ins and outs of intensive commodities trading.
